50 Cent to change his name
Rapper inflation hits record high
Rapper 50 Cent will, from 5 April 2007, be known as 55 Cent after further rises in rapper-bank interest rates failed to curb rapid rapper inflation.
A spokesperson for Mr Cent told NewsBeast that the change was an "unavoidable consequence of US fiscal policy".
It is expected that the American rap star will not be the only one affected in this way. Outkast frontman Andre 3012 has already changed his name once and is expected to rise to Andre 3018 or Andre 3020 by the end of 2008.
Former UK boy-band 911 split last year after rows started over whether they should change their name to 913.2 or 913.3 - they could not decide whether to round up or down. However, the problem looks to be close to resolution and the reformed band - 913.25 - could be releasing a new single in the summer.
Rising inflation could also impact TV and Film as well as the world of music.
R2D2 and C3P0 are in talks with the Bank of Lucas in an attempt to stave off rises to their names. Doctor Who's sidekick K9 is apparently also showing an interest.
Meanwhile, TV quiz show 15-to-1 has been off air for nearly a year now.
