Unleaded: "not fit for human consumption"

Petrol stations across the South-East of England were testing their tanks yesterday after concerns that the unleaded petrol they were selling was not fit for human consumption.

Phil Errup from Bromley, Kent, told NewsBeast about his experiences with the rogue petrol.

"I walked off the forecourt and almost immediately started to go blind." he said, adding: "As I started strolling into town, my legs kept cutting out and they wouldn't operate at the speed they usually do."

Mr Errup then stopped working altogether. Passers-by called AA, but they were mistaken in their belief he had an alcohol problem.

Tests later revealed abnormally high levels of silicone in the petrol, though Mr Errup claims not to have had plastic surgery recently.
